The Western Canada Lottery Corporation has said that nobody has stepped forward to claim the massive multi million dollar Lotto Max win just yet. A ticket purchased in Edmonton matched the numbers on the Lotto Max and could earn the winner - or winners - a whopping $33 million.

But, according to a spokesperson for the lottery corporation, Andrea Marantz, "No one has claimed the winning ticket yet." "A lot of people only check their tickets on Friday when they go to buy their next week's tickets," she explained.

However, another explanation may be that the winner has already realized his or her big windfall but prefers to lay low for a while. Lottery winners have up until a year to claim their prizes and so there is no mad rush to head on down to the St. Albert office to claim the prize just yet. "Especially with this large an amount, sometimes people are just not ready to deal withy it yet," said Marantz.

Sometimes, winners just need more time to register the shock of the news. Others want to seek financial advise to see what the best move would be to make once their bank account is filled with more zeroes that could ever be imagined, while still others may want to consider remaining anonymous so that long lost relatives and grade school pals don't start turning up on their doorsteps.

In the meantime, Edmonton ticket buyers are urged to check their lottery tickets to see whether they are the lucky winners of the $33,301,693!
