Canadian Poker Champ Joins Poker Stars
Jonathan Duhamel, the winner of the World Series of Poker 2010 Main Event, was officially named a member of Poker Stars Team Pro.
The young player took home $9 million in November for beating the final table, known as the November Nine.
Duhamel beat thousands on his way to the top of the WSOP event, with a lot of determination and skill.
He was the first Canadian to become a WSOP winner, after he took down his opponent in fewer than 50 hands.
For Duhamel, a hockey-player-turned-online-poker-pro, it was the start of a life that he could only have imagined as he practiced away for hours on the internet.
"It's a dream come true," he said at the time.
Jonathan Duhamel is considered one of Canada's best poker players and is currently touring the world to promote the game.
While Daniel Negreanu is considered the Father of Poker in Canada, even he has not managed to win a Main Event.
Duhamel was also nominated to be Canada's sportsman of the year, putting poker squarely in the same category as other major sports in the country for the first time.
Joining one of the best online poker rooms in the world, Poker Stars, is also a dream come true for Duhamel.
"I want to be playing the biggest tournaments in the world," he said after the announcement was made official.
"I'm going to do my best to pull off another big score."
