A woman who got lucky at the blackjack tables at her favorite land casino in Canada, had her winnings stolen after she returned home from her gambling session.

The Kelowna resident won thousands of dollars at the local Lake City Casino and decided to cash out when she was still on a roll.

She made her way home and was about to enter her house, when she was knocked on the ground by a robber and had her purse snatched with all the winnings inside.

"He grabbed so hard and pushed me," she said. "That is how he got away with my purse."

The woman has asked not to be identified because of security reasons, but she would reveal that she won $6,000 playing blackjack.

The police believe that the woman was followed home by a crook who saw her win the money and planned to rob her when she reached home.

The casino's security crew will be checking tapes that cover the blackjack tables to see whether the robber can be identified.

Important clues were left behind at the scene of the crime, including footprints and hairs.

Land casinos in Canada continue to improve on their security features, and players generally feel very safe when gambling.

The police, however, told gamblers to take basic precautions, as they would whenever they handle large sums of money.
