For instance, the winners of two large lottery jackpots from the weekend have still not come forward. The first is the winner of Friday's Lotto Max jackpot worth $22 million, and the second is the winner of Saturday's Lotto 6/49 jackpot worth $16 million.
Although the lucky winners are yet to claim their booty, the Western Canada Lottery Corporation confirmed that both ticket holders hail from Alberta. Said spokesperson, Andrea Marantz, 'We are just waiting for the winners to come forward. It was an unbelievably lucky weekend in Alberta.'
Friday's enormous windfall marked Alberta's third multi-million Lotto Max jackpot winner in the past year. In May this year, a lottery fan from Beaumont claimed a whopping $41.7 million jackpot, and in September, a couple from Edmonton took home a check for $10 million.
Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 are two of Canada's most popular lottery games, and attract millions of players with each draw. Lotto Max draws are held every Friday, while Lotto 6/49 are held every Wednesday and Saturday.
Since its launch, Lotto Max has grown in popularity due to its huge rollover jackpots which are capped at $50 million. Any rollovers bigger than $50 million are divided into $1 million prizes called Maxmillions.
