Tonight (Thursday, October 10) will see the highly anticipated showdown between the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants, the first time the Braves have seen the MLB playoffs in four years.

Here is our Braves Giants Betting Preview.

As such, MLB betting fans will be eager to see what the Braves bring to the party, considering that they just made it into the MLB playoffs and have lost two of their best players to injury in Chipper Jones and Martin Prado.

So it is not surprising that oddsmakers have set the Giants as the -150 favorite over the Braves. The question is whether soon-to-retire Braves coach Bobby Cox can motivate his team one last time to pull out a victory.

We shall see tonight. Despite the loss of Jones and Prado, Cox may just have a trick up his sleeve in the form of rookie-of-the-year candidate Jason Heyward, who has pulled his weight this season and is capable of more.

So far this season Heyward has batted .277 with 18 home runs, 72 RBI and 11 stolen bases. And although they will start tonight's game in San Francisco as the underdogs, the Braves boast a higher run average than their rivals.

The Brave's Brian McCann, Derrek Lee and Omar Infante have proven to be an offensive powerhouse and there is no reason why they shouldn't bring along their A-games. For our MLB betting buck, expect an upset tonight.

However, the Giants can counter the Brave's rookie-of-the-year candidate with their own in Buster Posey, who has also had a productive season so far. He's batted a none-too-shabby .305 with 18 home runs and 67 RBI.

Pat Burrell and Jose Guillen are also new additions to the Giants line up, but there are still questions surrounding their consistency. If the Giants falter this evening, there is little doubt that an eager Braves will capitalise quickly.
