US World Cup Team Lands in South Africa
Excitement gripped the US World Cup team as they winged their way to South Africa this weekend, in a bid to prepare for their tournament debut in less than a fortnight.
US will meet England in a much publicized game on June 11, as Group C's games kick off in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The US coach, Bob Bradley believes that the game versus England is a "great opportunity".
"There has been a lot of attention on our first game," he noted.
Bradley also believes that the other teams in Group C, Algeria and Slovenia, offer his team a real challenge.
"It will be a tough group and we are looking forward to it," he said.
The coach is hoping that Team USA's experience by reaching the finals of the Confederations Cup in South Africa last year, will serve well in its favour.
"We're very fortunate that we have had experience here," said Bradley. "The people here in South Africa have always treated us well so in that regard, it's a comfortable feeling to be back for the World Cup."
The 23 man roster to take part in the World Cup was announced last month, and will see three American players (Landon Donovan, DeMarcus Beasley and Steve Cherundolo) heading to their third World Cup.
Fifteen of the players, including the coach's son, Michael Bradley, will be taking part in their first World Cup.
