$50m Lotto Max Jackpot This Friday
This Friday will see the nationwide lottery, Lotto Max, offer a $50 million lottery prize to lucky Canadian winners, as well as an estimated 25 MaxMillions prizes.
Players are encouraged to rush out and buy their Lotto Max tickets for their chance to walk away with this life-changing sum of money.
When the jackpot reaches $50 million the Lotto Max offers MaxMillions, giving players the chance to win additional prizes of $1 million.
This Friday, an estimated 25 MaxMillions will be drawn, making at least 25 people across Canada instant millionaires!
$5 Per Lottery Ticket
A purchase of a Lotto Max play costs the player just $5, which gives them three sets of seven numbers from 1 - 49. Players can choose their first set of seven numbers, or request for a Quick Pick for a random choice of numbers.
Each set of seven numbers is eligible for the Lotto Max jackpot, as well as a MaxMillions draw. It is possible to play up to 5 plays per ticket.
Bigger Lotto Max Jackpots
In the meantime, it should be noted that the Lotto Max jackpot cap will increase from $50 million to $60 million from July this year.
As such, if the $50 million jackpot is not won, the jackpot cap, ie. the maximum amount the main jackpot is allowed to reach, will continue to grow to a top level of $60 million.
One thing that will not change, however, is when the MaxMillions will begin. These additional $1 million prizes will still begin when the jackpot reaches $50 million, and the number of MaxMillions will increase once the jackpot reaches its new cap.
The odds of winning the jackpot remain the same, while there are no plans to change the $5 per play price tag on Lotto Max tickets.
The first draw with the new changes in place will take place on July 17th.
According to BCLC, "a $55 million or $60 million jackpot will happen at the first opportunity on or after July 17th, 2015 when a $50 million jackpot rolls."
The overall prize structure will change slightly to direct more to the 7/7 category, while the prize pools for the 5/7, 6/7 and 6/7 + bonus categories will drop slightly.
