One lottery ticket from the June 29, 2012 Maxmillions draw remains unclaimed and is due to expire within the month. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) is urging all players who bought their ticket in Edmonton to check that they do not hold the unclaimed ticket.

The unclaimed Lotto Max ticket was one of 28 winnings tickets in the draw. Worth $1 million, the prize can only be claimed up to June 29, 2013 - a year after the draw when the ticket will expire.

Unclaimed Prize Will Be Added to a Fund

The $1m Edmonton lottery ticket prize will be added to the national unclaimed prize fund if the prize is not redeemed with the winning ticket before it expires. According to the WCLC large prizes have remained unclaimed in the past; however it is uncommon for such a large prize not to be claimed by the winner.

The largest prize to remain unclaimed was $14.9 million from a Lotto 6/49 jackpot, drawn on June 7, 2006. That ticket, which was bought in Alberta, expired in June 2007. All money from unclaimed prizes that are no longer valid is added to the national unclaimed prize fund. This money is put towards future jackpots and bonus draws.

Lottery officials have revealed that the winning ticket was bought in Edmonton in Canada, but for security reasons they will not reveal the exact location of the purchase, or even what area of the city it was bought in. The winning numbers from the draw on June 29, 2012 were 10, 14, 20, 28, 35, 40, 42 with bonus number 44 and extra 2989868.

Any player who discovers they have the winning ticket which was bought last summer can contact the Western Canada Lottery Corporation Customer Care phone line on 1-800-665-3313.
