2013 US Masters Golf Betting Odds Posted
Such is the popularity of golf betting, that although the 2013 US Masters - the first of the four annual majors - is only scheduled to start on April 11, most sportsbooks have posted betting lines for the epic tournament, which is played annually at the picturesque Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.
And if this year's tournament turns out to be even half as exciting as last years, then betting fans are in for a real treat in April. Who can forget how last year just it came down to a three-way tie between Americans Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar, and the plucky South African, Louis Oosthuizen.
Watson Beat Oosthuizen in 2012 Playoff
Kuchar put himself out of the running with a bogey, while Watson and Oosthuizen tied to force a sudden death playoff. Eventually in the second of two nail-biting holes, Watson clinched the title, earning himself a cool check for $1,440,000, the Masters Trophy and a famous Green Jacket.
The million dollar question is who will win this year's US Masters? This is a very tough question to answer, considering that very rarely in the tournament's history has the same player won it twice in a row. In fact, the inaugural tournament in 1934, only three players have won back to back titles.
They are Jack Nicklaus of the US in 1965 and 1966, Nick Faldo of England in 1989 and 1990 and Tiger Woods of the US in 2001 and 2002. So it will be very interesting to see if Watson can become only the fourth golfer in history to enter this small and very elite group of professional golfers.
Rory McIlroy Favored to Win 2013 US Masters
According to most online sportsbooks, including the Canadian friendly Sports Interaction, it is unlikely that Watson will pull off the feat, considering how relatively far down he is in the odds. Leading the way is young Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy, who racked up many big wins in 2012.
Second favorite is Tiger Woods, who showed glimpses of his previous self last year, and may just be on the cusp of making a complete return to his winning form, before his personal life imploded. US stalwart Phil Mickelson is the third favorite, and for my betting buck, the player who will the title.
But in the world of professional gold, anything can happen. Which is why golf fans and punters will have to wait for four longs months to see if the defending champion will have the right stuff. Here are the 2013 US Masters betting odds (top 25) as available right now to wager on at Sports Interaction.
