$50m Lotto Max Plus 25 MaxMillions Tonight
Tonight, Friday, October 19, will see one of the biggest Canadian lottery prizes up for grabs, as the Lotto Max jackpot reaches $50 million AND at least 25 MaxMillion draws.
The last Lotto Max draw saw no winner for the $50 million Lotto Max jackpot, which means that the jackpot rolled over to this week.
The only difference is that instead of the 14 MaxMillions which were offered in the last draw, there are now 25. This means that there are an ADDITIONAL 25 chances for Canadians to become instant millionaires, over and above the $50 million jackpot.
In the last draw, winning tickets were sold for two of the 14 MaxMillion prizes of a million dollars each - one of them in Ontario and the other in British Columbia.
Max Millions Explained
MaxMillions are extra $1 million prizes which are drawn when the Lotto Max jackpot reaches $50 million. These draws are separate from the main jackpot draw.
The Lotto Max ticket not only gives players the chance to win the $50 million jackpot, but also the same chance to win any of the $1 million MaxMillion draws at the same time.
Players need to match all seven of the seven numbers drawn for that MaxMillions draw. For each MaxMillions draw, seven numbers are drawn from 1 to 49.
Should there be more than one winner in a MaxMillions draw, the $1 million prize is shared among the winners in that MaxMillions draw.
When the $50 million Lotto Max jackpot is won, any MaxMillions which are not won are added to the next base ($10 million) jackpot and are not counted as MaxMillions prizes. If the $50 million jackpot is not won, any MaxMillions prizes not won are carried forward to the next draw as MaxMillions prizes, as happened last week.
$10 Million Lotto Max Seed
The Lotto Max jackpot is seeded at $10 million and lottery groups guarantee that once a jackpot is it, the next one begins at least this amount. The jackpot can never grow larger than $50 million and when it does, MaxMillions are added.
Naturally, these aren't the only prizes available, and players can start winning from matching only three out of the seven numbers drawn. Prizes range from free play to thousands of dollars, and their value is determined on how many correct numbers are estimated.
