2012 Preakness Stakes Guide and Odds
After all the excitement of the 2012 Kentucky Derby a few weeks ago when, when I'll Have Another chased down and overtook race favorite Bodemeister to win the auspicious race, all eyes will be on Saturday's $1 million 2012 Preakness Stakes (Gr 1) at Pimlico Racecourse in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Preakness Stakes, which is the second leg of the prestigious US Triple Crown of races, will be contested by 16 three-year-olds over 1 3/16 miles on dirt, including I'll Have Another and Bodemeister. Most Preakness Stakes betting fans will be eager to see if I'll Have Another has what it takes to win the Triple Crown.
I'll Have Another could be First Triple Crown Winner since 1978
If I'll Have Another wins on Saturday, the only thing between him becoming the first winner of the Triple Crown since Affirmed pulled off the feat in 1978, will be the finish line of Belmont Stakes in Elmont, New York next month. However, this is no easy task, as even the best trainers and jockeys will attest to.
Looking at Saturday's big race, it's no surprise that I'll Have Another and Bodemeister have been posted as the joint 3/1 co-favorites considering their respective performances in the Kentucky Derby. Find a short description of what we consider to be the top four runners in our 2012 Preakness Stakes guide:
