As football fans prepare for Sunday's two NFL Championship games, many will be thinking about the weekend of Sunday, February 5, when the winners of this weekend's all-important games will face off in Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The first of this weekend's NFL Championship games will see the New York Giants take on the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park, who are the -2.5 point betting favorites at top-rated online sportsbook Bodog. The second game will see the Baltimore Ravens take on the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium, who are the -7.5 point betting favorites.

San Francisco will Benefit from their Home Advantage

While anything could happen in these two games with so much on the line, there is a strong chance that San Francisco will benefit tremendously from their home advantage and produce the necessary strength and ability to fend off the New York Giants who, win or lose, will go down this season as the team that dispatched the mighty Green Bay Packers.

Similarly, the New England Patriots will likely use their home advantage to full effect to dominate the Baltimore Ravens by the full time whistle. If both these scenarios happen, the stage could well be set for one of the most exciting NFL Super Bowl showdowns in recent years, simply because these are two of the most exciting and dynamic teams around.

New England Boast Veteran Head Coach Bill Belichick

It won't be lost on Canadian betting fans that this game would feature teams with the league's best offense and defense respectively, which would make for some highly exciting football action. There is also an exciting subplot in the form of San Francisco's Jim Harbaugh, in his first ever season in the NFL as a head coach, versus New England's highly experienced head coach, Bill Belichick.

The difference in team strategies (assuming San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots do progress to the Super Bowl) will be interesting to see in North America's most important annual football matchup. And for our Super Bowl XLVI betting buck, in the above scenario we see San Francisco emerging as the new 2011-11 NFL Champs.
