Winnipeg Blue Bombers +7 Point Underdogs
It has been a decade since the Blue Bombers have been crowned the Eastern division champs, and four years since they have faced off in the Grey Cup. But here they are, ready and primed to win the highest honor in the CFL.
Last week they had to overcome the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to guarantee their place in the 99th Grey Cup, which they did by dispatching their opponents 19-3 in a convincing display of football prowess that was lacking in recent games.
It was not lost on CFL betting fans that the Bombers lost two of their last three games heading into the finals. But as every sports fan knows only too well, a team is only as good as their last win, and their last win cemented their place in the Grey Cup, giving a glimpse of what Sunday's game could hold.
By winning the Eastern division final, the Bombers could enjoy a much-needed rest as well as focus on improving in a few areas in practice. The result appears to be a well-rested squad that is highly motivated to bring home the Cup.
Both offensively and defensively, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers should be in good shape for Sunday's big showdown.
B.C. Lions -7 Point Favorites
The race to win the West division really heated up in the last few games of the CFL season, but ultimately came down to just two teams - the B.C. Lions and the Edmonton Eskimos, both of which deserved to be where the ended up.
After finishing stone last in their division last year, the Eskimos pulled up their socks and then some this season, eager to erase the memory of last year. Unfortunately, their journey of redemption came to an end at the hands of the B.C. Lions.
When all was said and done, the Lions were simply too good for the Eskimos, just as they were in their previous game against the Calgary Stampeders. Against the Eskimos, Lions' QB Travis Lulay never looked so in control, and will no doubt just as much of an asset against the Bombers on Sunday.
There is no doubt that Lulay and rest of the Lions' offensive lineup have contributed to their favorite status going into the Grey Cup, but at this stage of the CFL season they cannot afford to be complacent. Because as motivated as they may be to win the Cup, so too are their opponents.
As such, this year's Grey Cup is expected to attract CFL betting fans from far and wide, even beyond Canada's borders, as arguably Canada's two best football teams face off to win bragging rights for the year ahead.
