Loto Quebec Getting Ready for Online Launch
Since government approval has been granted earlier this year for the legalising of online gambling in some provinces, the state lottery operator, Loto Quebec has once again announced their plans to launch online gambling in the province towards the end of this year.
In the final quarter of 2010, online gambling will be available to the province's residents. Online poker will also be offered on a joint platform with British Columbia Lottery Corporation and Atlantic Lottery Corporation.
Additional software will also be available and some of the more popular table games will also be on offer, through a joint venture with Open Bet.
Alain Cousineau, CEO of Loto Quebec said that he was planning on ensuring that Canada's online gaming players have access to safe and legal online gaming sites by this autumn.
He added that: "Loto Quebec intends to bring its online games of chance project to fruition with all of its well-known rigour and integrity. We will be offering Quebecers a choice of entertaining games like poker, various table games and sports betting with a controlled circuit and in a secure environment whose integrity will be beyond question."
Some technical details of the project were made available:
-
Online poker will be on a common platform with British Columbia Lottery Corporation and Atlantic Lottery Corporation
-
The platform will be hosted in Montreal.
-
The software will be provided by G TECH G2.
-
Customer account management software will be provided by Open Bet.
-
Table games will be provided (mostly) by Open Bet
CEO of Open Bet, David Loveday, commented on the joint venture: "We are proud to be partnering with Loto Quebec who will be able to fully utilise our technical infrastructure to successfully launch their online gaming business in a new and exciting market."
