Former GCGC Executive Wins the Lottery
When 67 year old Brian Egli served as the Executive Vice President of the Great Canadian Gambling Corporation, he undoubtedly came face to face with many people who had hit the jackpot and won huge sums of money.
But Egli never dreamed that he would also become a winner of a multi million dollar payout himself.
After working in the Canadian gambling industry for over 20 years, Egli's luck has finally turned and he was stunned to learn last week that he had managed to earn himself $4.3 million on a Lotto 6/49 ticket.
Egli matched all six winning numbers on the ticket that he purchased at the Tsawwassen Lottery Center and he recalled how his wife reacted when he broke the news that he had won the Big One.
"Her response was, 'Sure we did, Brian'," he said.
Now that the Eglis are convinced that the $4.3 million is really theirs, they have big plans for the cash.
"I think it may be time to retire," said Brian Egli. "I'll be meeting with my executive very soon to discuss options."
It took some extra time for Egli's win to meet the final approval of the BC Lottery Corporation investigators, who make a point of placing every win by BC gambling industry employees under close scrutiny for any signs of foul play.
However, the couple were given the all clear and are now planning to fly to Las Vegas, purchase a new car and pamper their family.
The BC Lottery Corporation paid over 4,000 prize winners last month alone, handing out a record total of $53 million.
The Lotto 6/49 is one of the country's most popular lottery brands.
