Canadian 6-49 Lottery Millionaire is Down to Earth
Usually instant lottery millionaires tell reporters how they think their new
riches will change their lives and the lives of their families overnight. But
Joanne Tsetta, who recently won a whopping $20.6 million 6-49 Lottery
jackpot, says she has no intention of changing and is just 'going with the
flow.'
On Thursday last week at a news conference in Edmonton, Alberta, Tsetta told
reporters that she doesn't believe her enormous 6-49 Lottery windfall will
change her life. Despite the fact that prior to her lotto win she had been
living off Employment Insurance while working to get her Grade 12 qualification.
'Even though I've won all this money, it's not going to change who I am as a
person,' she said. 'I'm just gonna spend time with my family and just go with
the flow. Yes, I have a few extra dollars in my pocket, but I've been raised by
good family and I value that.'
The lucky lotto winner went on to say how she only played the lottery a couple
of times a year and that she couldn't believe it when she won. In fact, she
admitted that it took her a week to get around to checking her 6-49 Lottery
quick-pick tickets and when she did she was in for the surprise of her life.
'I thought the ticket checker was giving me an error when I scanned my ticket,' she said. 'I saw this outrageous number and thought at first that I'd won $200,000, then maybe $2 million.' At that point Tsetta showed her ticket to a stranger who confirmed that she was Canada's latest lottery multi-millionaire.
But perhaps the strangest part of this entire story is that after being told that she had just won $20.6 million, Tsetta didn't scream or shout or even jump up and down, but simply put the winning ticket back in her wallet and calmly left without saying another word.
Tsetta told reporters that she will decide what to do with her new found wealth after she finishes her high school diploma this summer. She did, however, say that she intends to spend some of her 6-49 Lottery money on a new car and, most importantly, on her children's education.
