The fact that I eat, sleep and breathe all things Canadian online gambling is probably why my friends and family consider me an online gambling expert of sorts. And why I'm their 'go to guy' for all things Canadian online gambling. While I've learned to take this in my stride and even as a complement, it can also be pretty annoying at times, especially when people (most of whom have never visited a Canadian online casino, never mind played on one) brazenly accuse online casinos of cheating players.

Whenever I hear that statement, it makes my blood boil, not because I feel I need to defend Canadian online casinos (they are quite capable of defending themselves thank you) but because I know it is not true. How do I know this? Well, because for over 10 years now I have visited and played on just about every online casino there is. And sure, while most have been great and a few even excellent, a couple have been bad. But the funny thing about bad online casinos is that they don't last long.

In the online gambling world, nothing exposes and kills bad online casinos faster than bad word of mouth and blogs. If players, affiliates and suppliers feel they've gotten a raw deal from a Canadian online casino in any way, shape or form, they write about it, because it's no secret that news travels faster on the internet than wildfire, especially bad news. And believe me when I say that online casinos are all too aware of this fact, which is why most try to avoid negative news, views and publicity at any cost.

In fact, most great Canadian online casinos are focused on generating good news by issuing press releases on all manner of positive subjects such as their latest new game releases; new and larger welcome bonuses; exciting new daily, weekly and monthly promotions; new improved VIP player programs; new, faster and safer deposit methods; the fact they have become eCOGRA accredited; lists of recent winners and their winnings, and so on.

So whenever I encounter someone that accuses online casinos of cheating players, I want to tear out my hair and yell 'take five minutes to visit any Canadian online casino and check out its list of recent winners, where it is licensed and regulated, what its payout percentage is (which must be audited and signed off by independent firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers) etc.'

Take JackpotCity.com, a long-established and well-known Canadian-friendly online casino which recently published a list of its 5 biggest winners over the festive season last year (December 2010). Here is the list of winners, the games they won on and what they were paid out, which if you add up, comes to a whopping CAN$108,243. Remember that these are just their top 5 winners in one month:

  1. Amanda S. from Ontario won $31,171 on Mad Hatters slots
  2. Marilyn O. from Ontario won $30,762 on Agent Jane Blonde slots
  3. Geir R. from British Columbia won $17,773 on Santa's Wild Ride slots
  4. Michael M. from Quebec won $14,989 on Burning Desire slots
  5. Laura M. from Ontario won $13,548 on Santa's Wild Ride slots

So the next time you encounter some ignorant fool spouting anti-online gambling garbage, please direct them to this blog. Ta.
