When you read the headline above, you probably did a double take as your brain struggled to process the fact that while just a few days ago the exhilarating 2011-12 NBA Championship was won by the sizzling Miami Heat 4-1 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, odds for the 2012-13 NBA season have already been posted.

Well, they have, which is great news if you're an NBA betting fan eager to start preparing for the new season, which kicks off on October 30 this year. As expected, the superb Miami Heat have been posted as the early NBA betting favorites, which is really not surprising considering the last couple of seasons they've had.

Miami Heat Reached the NBA Finals

You may recall how last season the Heat made it all the way to the NBA Finals where they forged a 2-1 lead over the Dallas Mavericks before the blew their chances in a big way, losing the championship 4-2 to the team from Texas, despite boasting the services of arguably one of the NBA's best players, LeBron James.

In fact, many blamed the downfall of Miami that season on James, saying he didn't play nearly as aggressively as he should have. So with this hanging over him, James and co kicked off the 2011-12 NBA season intent on proving to their fans and detractors alike that not only would they reach the NBA Finals for the second straight year, but they would be the team to hoist the trophy high.

Which is exactly what they did, winning Game 5 by a convincing 101-88 in front of their home crowd in Miami, and with it the 2011-12 NBA Championship. And while James and the rest of the Heat have been bathing in the kudos and glory of their huge achievement, online sports betting sites have been compiling odds for next season, including the following from Bodog:
