10 Ways To Win At Online Blackjack

I consider myself something of an online Blackjack expert, so whenever I'm asked at a dinner party, a tailgate party or down at my local bar what the best 10 ways to win at online Blackjack are, here's what I usually say:
- Always choose reputable and licensed online casinos. Then you can rest assured that all of the games offered by the casino are safe and secure (including online Blackjack). In other words, that they are 100 percent legit.
- Know what you're doing before you play for real money. If you've never played Blackjack before, learn the rules of the game and then practice on play money Blackjack games before you bet even a cent of real money.
- Learn the basic Blackjack strategy before you play for real money. Basic Blackjack strategy is mathematically the most effective way of how you should play a hand with any total value against any dealer up-card.
- Understand the importance of 21. A 'Blackjack' means to make a natural 21 i.e. 21 points from your initial two cards. Remember that your objective in Blackjack is to get as close to 21 points as possible without busting.
- Pick a stake to match your budget. This is pretty straight forward. Only play online Blackjack games with stakes you can afford. For instance, if you have a $100 budget, pick a $5 Blackjack table rather than a $50 table.
- Know when to split pairs and when not to. Just because you are dealt pairs doesn't mean you should split them. Always split Aces and 8s, but never split 4s and 5s and only split 9's if the dealer is showing a 10 or an Ace.
- Know when to stand and when to hit. Remember to keep hitting until you reach 17 or more, stand on 17 or more and hit when you have a soft 18 and the dealer is showing a 10. Also, double your 10 against the dealer's 9.
- Watch the value of the dealers cards and act accordingly. For instance, if a dealer is showing a 7 or higher, keep hitting until you have 17 or higher. Also, if the dealer is showing a 4, 5 or 6 and you are holding a 9, always double.
- Don't bother with insurance. In land casinos it is not unknown for card counters to take advantage of blackjack insurance. But as it is impossible to count cards on the internet, don't waste your money taking out insurance.
- Don't be afraid to vary your bets. There's no rule that says you should either bet big or bet small to win in online blackjack. Follow your intuition by betting bigger when you are on a winning streak and smaller when you are not.
